Moving to Defined

A fresh start. A carefully planned move.

Your website brings in enquiries, keeps customers informed and helps the working day run smoothly. Let’s plan a move that respects all of that.

Make your next move

A careful move starts with a clear plan.

  1. Get the full picture

We will ask about your website, domain, email and any booking, payment or business systems connected to them.

  2. Prepare and test

Agree the migration scope and any charges, take suitable backups and check the new hosting before the changeover.

  3. Make the switch

Plan the DNS changes and final checks around how your business works. Keep the old service until the move is confirmed.

The details matter

Your website does not work in isolation.

Website files and databases

20i’s migration tools support transfers from a range of common hosting systems. We will check compatibility with your current setup first.

Email deserves its own plan

Mailboxes, devices and DNS settings need separate attention. If you use Microsoft 365 or another provider, we will identify the records that must stay in place.

Keep the essentials connected

We will agree checks for forms, logins and other important features. Tell us about anything your team or customers rely on every day.

Before the switch

Keep the working day in mind.

A move should be planned around the way your business uses its website. A contact form, an online shop and a shared mailbox each need their own checks.

Keep your current hosting active while the new setup is prepared and tested. We will agree the work, access requirements and any charges before starting.

Let’s plan your website move
  • Check a copy before changing DNS

Review the website on the new hosting, including links, images, forms and any application requirements.

  • Agree a plan for changing data

For shops and frequently updated sites, decide how orders, messages and new content will be handled during the move.

  • Review after the change

Check the live website and email, confirm certificates and redirects, and keep the agreed recovery option available.

A little clarity

Moving, with fewer unknowns.

Good questions deserve straightforward answers. If yours is not here, let’s talk it through.

Will my website go offline?

The aim is to keep disruption to a minimum, but the risk and timing depend on your current service and the type of website. We will explain the proposed changeover and any likely interruption rather than promise that every move is instant.

Do I have to transfer my domain too?

No. A website can use hosting with one provider while the domain remains registered elsewhere. We will explain the DNS changes needed for your chosen setup.

Should I cancel my old hosting now?

Please keep it active until your website and any email have moved and the agreed checks are complete. Cancelling early could remove files or mailboxes you still need.

Is migration free?

20i provides migration tools, but the work involved in your move can vary. We will confirm the scope and any charge before starting. Bespoke sites, mail and third-party integrations may need extra attention.

New hosting. A considered next step.

Tell us your website address and what you would like to improve.
